Thickness of Wood Veneer Sheets and Backers

At Oakwood Veneer, one of our most frequently asked questions is regarding how thick our wood veneer is with varying backers. Here are the exact specifications of each veneer backing thickness. 

10 Mil Backed Veneer: 
- Veneer Thickness: 1/42" (or 0.0238") 
- Backer Thickness: 10 mil, which equals 1/100" (or 0.01")
- Full Thickness (Veneer plus backer): 3.4/100" (or 0.0338" - this is close to 1/30")

22 Mil Bubble Free Backed Veneer:
- Veneer Thickness: 1/42" (or 0.0238")
- Backer Thickness: 22 mil, which equals 2.2/100" (or 0.022")
- Full Thickness (Veneer plus backer): 4.6/100" (or 0.0458" - this is close to 1/22")

Phenolic Backed High Pressure Laminate Wood Veneer:
- Veneer Thickness: 1/42" (or 0.0238")
- Backer Thickness: 24 mil which equals 2.4/100" (or 0.024) 
- Full Thickness before sanding (Veneer plus backer) 4.8/100" (or 0.0478" - this is close to 1/21")
- NOTE: AFTER SANDING, VENEER PLUS BACKER MEASURED 0.04" or 40 mil

Wood on Wood Backed Veneer:
- Veneer Thickness: 1/42" (or 0.0238")
- Backer Thickness: 3.4/100 (or 0.0338")
- Full Thickness before sanding (Veneer plus backer) 5.8/100" (or 0.0576" - this is close to 1/18")
- NOTE: AFTER SANDING BOTH SIDES, VENEER PLUS BACKER MEASURED 0.035" or 35 mil
